License metrics

Single seat license - (Authorized User, AU):

  • AU licenses are user-bound and therefore only for a determined user - 1 license = 1 user
  • This license may be installed on up to 2 devices of one user, e.g. workstation and laptop. Both devices may not be used at the same time.
  • Advantage: AU licenses can also be used offline, as they are installed directly on the device.

Network license - (Concurrent User, CU):

  • CU licenses are not user-bound and can therefore be used by several persons - 1 license per simultaneous use, user-independent
  • These licenses can be installed on any number of devices. The devices must be connected to the server on which a service for assigning the CU licenses 'Concurrent Licensing Tool' is installed. The service monitors the number of concurrent use so that the maximum number of licenses purchased is maintained.
  • Disadvantage: an internet connection is always required to access the service on the server for the assignment of the license.
  • Advantage: several users can be provided with 1 license. However, only one of these users can work with 1 CU license at a time.
